◆ Future Nurse Practitioner

Caring for people with compassionate care
and dignity and respect.

Anisha Khadka Karki, RN BSN

Where It All Began

I was born in Nepal and completed my high school education in Kathmandu, the capital city. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chakrabarti Habi Education Academy at Purbanchal University, graduating with Distinction.

After relocating to The Woodlands, TX, I began my career as a Registered Nurse. I am currently working at Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital, where I continue to practice today.

I have always been caring, ambitious, and extremely organized. My teammates have described me as dedicated, motivated, ethical, and compassionate, with expertise in assessment, monitoring, and care for critical and telemetry patients. They also described me as a hard worker and an effective communicator. I am always looking to provide compassionate, inclusive care that encourages self-sufficiency and effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians, technologists, nurses, and other health care professionals. My friends have said that I have always been helpful and that they have appreciated my love and kindness toward them.

Today, I am completing my Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner at Stephen F. Austin State University's DeWitt School of Nursing in Nacogdoches, TX. My goal is to provide advanced medical care to patients and collaborate with physicians.

My Nursing Philosophy

I chose to pursue my nursing career because I am passionate about caring for people who are ill and providing better care. In this personal nursing philosophy paper, I focus on four nursing concepts: people, nursing, health, and environment — and how providing holistic, high-quality, compassionate care to patients while integrating evidence-based research and knowledge constitutes good nursing care. When delivering care, it is important to practice compassion and respect for every person's inherent dignity, worth, and unique attributes (American Nurses Association, 2015).
