I consistently apply pathophysiology, pharmacology, and evidence-based practice as the scientific foundation of my clinical decision-making.
Anisha Khadka Karki, RN, BSN — MSN-FNP Candidate — SFASU DeWitt School of Nursing
I have established the NONPF NP core competencies based on my academic, clinical, and professional accomplishments and growth. The National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) defines nine competency domains that all nurse practitioners must demonstrate to deliver safe, effective, and ethical advanced practice care.
The following reflections demonstrate how I have established each NONPF NP core competency through my academic, clinical, and professional accomplishments and growth.
I consistently apply pathophysiology, pharmacology, and evidence-based practice as the scientific foundation of my clinical decision-making.
I have demonstrated effective communication, collaboration, and patient advocacy throughout my clinical and professional experience. By fostering teamwork and driving change in healthcare environments, I have advanced into a leadership role that supports improved outcomes for patients and interprofessional teams alike.
I utilize evidence-based practices, adhere to established medical safety standards in the workplace, and evaluate patient outcomes using evidence-based practices. I always ensure the highest standards of patient safety and clinical excellence.
I have incorporated current research evidence into my practice and continually engaged in reflective practice. By translating new knowledge into clinical practice and critically examining my own practice, I strengthen the quality and safety of the care I provide to patients and their families.
I have successfully used electronic health records (EHRs), clinical decision support tools, and other digital resources to improve patient care. My proficiency with health information technology enables me to document accurately, make informed clinical decisions, and access the best available evidence at the point of care.
I am knowledgeable about health care policy and the regulatory framework governing advanced practice nursing. Understanding the interdependence of policy and practice equips me to advocate for ethical, just, and equitable care — particularly for underserved and vulnerable populations — at the local, state, and national levels.
I have provided coordinated, cost-effective care while also ensuring continuity of care across settings. By understanding the complexities of health delivery systems, I collaborate with interprofessional teams to navigate organizational structures and reduce fragmentation that can compromise patient outcomes.
I have upheld ethical principles of practice, including cultural humility, patient confidentiality, advocacy, and respect for patient autonomy. I am committed to providing high-quality, compassionate, patient-centered, and evidence-based care and respect the patient's autonomy.
I have demonstrated my readiness for independent practice through my comprehensive patient assessment and evidence-based management across clinical settings. My clinical hours, reflective growth, and academic preparation have equipped me to function as a capable, accountable advanced practice nurse.
